Markets not smitten by Trump's remarks
We’re seeing some risk-off flows within the markets in the mean time. Two key Trump’s remarks might be what’s weighing on the sentiment. The primary one is his reply to the query whether or not he would think about it a victory if the US nonetheless had excessive tariffs by the top of the 12 months like 20% or 30% or 50%. He replied “complete victory”. Not precisely encouraging.
The second is when he mentioned that he will not name President Xi until Xi calls him first. It has been made clear by now that the Chinese language will not name first, so if that is the technique, then they might stay at a standstill for a very long time till the financial injury turns into sufficiently big to drive Trump to fold.
